Hyundai Cabin Air Filter Replacement in Goshen, IN
Everything that blows out of your Hyundai's vents passes through the cabin air filter first. Using the 2027 Santa Fe owner's manual, read October 27, 2026, this page covers how often Hyundai replaces it, which driving conditions call for earlier changes, where the filter sits and the steps to swap it. Other Hyundai models and years have their own schedules, so check the manual for your vehicle.
How often does a Hyundai need a new cabin air filter?
The 2027 Santa Fe owner's manual replaces the cabin air filter every 16,000 miles (26,000 km) or 24 months, whichever comes first. If you drive on rough, dusty, muddy, unpaved, graveled or salt-spread roads, or in heavy dust, replace it more frequently. Hyundai recommends having it replaced by an authorized Hyundai dealer such as Hyundai of Goshen.
What the cabin air filter does
According to the 2027 Santa Fe manual, the cabin air filter sits behind the glove box and filters the dust or other pollutants that enter the vehicle through the heating and air conditioning system. Hyundai says to have it replaced by an authorized Hyundai dealer according to the maintenance schedule.
One warning sign is spelled out in the manual: when the air flow rate suddenly decreases, have the system inspected by an authorized Hyundai dealer.
Hyundai cabin air filter replacement schedule
| Schedule | Cabin air filter |
|---|---|
| Normal maintenance | Replace every 16,000 miles (26,000 km) or 24 months, whichever comes first (at 16, 32, 48, 64, 80 and 96 thousand miles in the chart) |
| Severe usage (conditions C and E) | Replace more frequently, depending on the condition |
From the normal and severe usage maintenance schedules in the 2027 Santa Fe owner's manual, read October 27, 2026. Other Hyundai models and years have their own schedules.
When to change it sooner
For the cabin air filter, the 2027 Santa Fe severe usage schedule lists two driving conditions:
| Condition | From the manual |
|---|---|
| C | Driving on rough, dusty, muddy, unpaved, graveled or salt-spread roads |
| E | Driving in the heavy dust conditions |
The climate control section adds that driving in severe conditions such as dusty or rough roads, transporting pets, or occupants smoking inside the vehicle call for more frequent cabin air filter inspections and changes. The maintenance chapter says that if the vehicle operates in severely air-polluted cities or on dusty rough roads for a long time, have the filter inspected more frequently and replaced immediately.
How the cabin air filter is replaced
These are the steps in the 2027 Santa Fe manual. Hyundai says to be careful to avoid damaging other components:
- Open the glove box and remove the support rod.
- Push in both sides of the glove box to release the glove box stopper pins and allow the glove box to hang open.
- Press and hold the lock on the right side of the cover.
- Pull out the cover.
- Replace the cabin air filter, with the arrow symbol on the new filter facing down to improve effectiveness.
- Reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly.
